My Obsessions

I swear I suffer from some sort of OCD...but we'll get more into that in a future post.

I've been married for almost 7 years now. Wow, how time flies! I would be lying if I said all those 7 years were picture perfect but I think that learning how to deal with bumps in the roads and arguments...I mean "heated discussions" with your significant other is apart of the whole journey. I'm happy to say that my husband has become my best friend. He knows what I'm thinking before I say anything. He's even been quick to also point out my weird obsessions...

So I'm told I've got an obsession over the following:
  • Cleaning the house after midnight and last minute cleaning before guests arrive. I was trying to clean the house before we went out of town for a wedding last week. My cousins were staying at the house to take care of Jake & Harley. I asked my husband to vacuum before we left in the morning. He stood at the front door and gave me a "ARE YOU CRAZY?!" look and said- "Seriously? Let's not try to put up the facade that we are clean and organized people"... Me: "HMMPHHH! Sooo...what are you saying? I don't do a good job cleaning the house???" bastard...

  • Bedding - I have probably bought 6 sets of either duvet covers and/or comforter sets in the past year. The sad thing is...we only own 2 beds. I don't know what it is about bedding sets that make me smile. LOL. I know sad... but a quick change of bedding can change the look of any room! Plus- winter time calls for a different color comforter than let's say spring time!

  • Sales...especially those accompanied with a coupon. Enough said. I love when Kate Spade has an online sale with coupon codes! :D

  • Camera Equipment - I do extensive research before I buy any camera equipment and do a lot of back and forth debating in my head whether or not I should make the investment. It took me 6 months to decide on what type of camera lens to buy. Funny, it only took me a 3 days to decide on putting an offer in on our house.

  • Sanitation... okay, not sure if this is an obsession but I will never ever be comfortable sharing two key items with ANYONE (related or not) - my toothbrush and my bath towel.

  • My lifeline - I went through a stint where I studied palmistry and card reading. I even took a parks & recs class on it. My lifeline on both my palms are short. This worries me and I always cry to Dave to LOOK AT MY LINES!! WTH?! sob sob... Guess short lifelines will just push me to live life in the moment. I'm starting on my bucket list early...
I know everybody has their quirks.
So what sort of weird obsessions do you have?

long time...no post

I'm so bad at this blogging thing. Between my photography website, facebook fanpage, and photog blog, there's just too many social media outlets to keep up with!

2009 went by so quickly! I became an aunt, adopted another labradoodle, recently got promoted at work (it was about time!), and officially started my photography business. More posts to hopefully come!

Long work week

Well, I just got back from a long week of work. We shot a commercial in New York last week that spanned over 8 days. It was a long and cold work week but we are all psyched about the results and can't wait to see the final edits. I got to meet some famous athletes and even the magic man, David Blaine (which I got to snag a photo with and an autograph). I'm such a dork when it comes to famous people I actually know about and follow on tv. Matt Hughes came in on one of the last days of the shoot and I couldn't help but blush like a little school girl. I wasn't a huge fan of him prior to the shoot cause what I saw on TUF but he seemed like a genuinely nice guy that wasn't too overcome or jaded by fame and fortune. He, ofcourse, probably thought I was stalkerazzi with the camera but hey, it was apart of the job! My coworkers couldn't help but tease me on how excited I was for the opportunity to meet and interview him. Yes, I'll admit it now and I admitted it then, I am the biggest dork you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. :) I will post photos later this week!

Here's a pic of David Blaine and I. Don't ask why he looks so grumpy...

Things to do in this lifetime

So I was thinking the other day...what would you want to do before you pass on to the next life? Here's what I came up with for myself

TOP 10 List of things to do in this Lifetime

10.) Run a Marathon (though that would probably be the cause of my death...)

9.) Go skydiving (yet another risk/near death adventure...I heard earlier this week that a plane with a team of sky divers crashed with no survivors left...made me wonder though...why didn't they just jump out of the plane before it crashed? after all, they were going sky diving)

8.) Finish these 2 video projects at work which seem to be taking forever!...which then leads me to pause at #8 and go back to work! will type more later...

Cute quirk or just weird?

5 things my friends don't know about me...but do now...

1.) I make coffee just to smell the aroma

2.) I pre-roll in public restrooms...what is a pre-roll you ask? It's when you take the first couple sheets off the roll of toilet paper...who knows what germs can be on there from the last user!

3.) I am lactose intolerant. Too much dairy gives me the farts.

4.) I sometimes pretend I'm on a cooking show when I make dinner, announcing step by step instructions.

5.) I should be working right now but instead...i blog.

Life without style

I don't consider myself an unstylish person but I'm not necessarily a trend setter either. I love clothes but don't have the patience nor wallet to purchase fashionista type items. I work in an office full of young "Trendy Wendys" who look as though they receive style tips from Vogue each morning. White is the new in color? They'll be wearing it before the sun rises. I often see some of the girls walk by me and give me a once over. So what if I'm wearing the same style shirt (but in a different color) as I did the day before or if my two big toenails have remnants of last summer's pedicure (which was over 5 months ago)?

I remember growing up wearing my sister's hand-me-downs. We didn't have much money growing up. We were immigrants and my parents struggled to keep us fed so we didn't care that our clothes came from local thrift shops or that our shoes were Kmart brands. As an adult, I still watch my spendings but do splurge every now and then...after all who can resist a new Kate Spade bag?...especially if it's on sale???

So why is it that 20+ years later I still feel like the nerdy girl in a classroom of Barbie dolls? The girls at work have yet to say something about my lack of style or unrefined taste but their half cracked smiles and their not-so-subtle glances says it all. I watch as they walk by me. Their eyes seem to trail...first it's a glance at my worn out shirt (which has a slight hole in it because my ring snagged it acouple of months ago but I have yet to throw it out cause its so comfortable) then the eyes go to my washed out khakis (which has a slight pen mark on the left pocket cause my husband forgot to empty his pockets on laundry day) and finally the eyes fall all the way down to the pair of half-off last season pumps. They finally realize I am watching them and they manage to crack a smirk as they walk off with their hips swaying side to side.

It's a repetitive pattern that happens every now and then but I don't care. Heck, my clothes and stylings may not be runway quality but damn it- I sure look good in my kate spade.

First Entry

In an attempt to get the voices out of my head (they tend to ramble a lot) I've started this blog so they have an outlet to be heard (by someone other than me). Please check by ever so often to read my ramblings about everyday life...and then some.

Sit back, relax, and flip me some pez will ya?
